3D ANIMATIONS
ARABIAN HORSE
In the desert, Three horses emerge from grains of sands...
Arabian horse was a project I did during the time I resided in Scotland, As beautiful as Scotland was, I could not help but to miss Dubai and its sunny deserts, where I spent more than a decade of my life in.
So what if from its deseret emerges three horses to life in a magical way with an authentic music to compliment their magestic and beautiful action?
This project was a fun collaboration with the incredible technical artist "Ali Seiffouri" where he shared his self developed morphing oriental pattern generator algorythm and I'm really grateful for his generocity and the level of aesthetic beauty he brought into the piece.

Technical Overview
A simple rig and a few animation clips such as jumping, landing and run cycles were created in Maya and later imported into Houdini as alembic files and stitched together for the entire animated piece. Each horse also got its own seperate motion path combined with the in place run cycle alembic animation I had prepaired previously.
After breaking the horses into pieces using "Voroni fracture" in Houdini, A dedicated motion path could be drawn per piece and animated by a single attribute that goes from zero to one.
Thanks to the way Ali had prepaired the oriental morhing effect in Houdini, It was only a matter of dropping it into the network and have it work flawlessly.
Layers of procedurally animated custom attributes were used to drive utility shaders in Arnold to get the effects such as sand and pebbls turning into hot lava, cold and then into gold.
The Horse hoof trails on the sand was only a simple sop solver automatically generating a mask based on where the hoses have landed. This mask could then be used to remesh the floor with a customized levek of polygon density and push them lower to simulate the effect.
The trail dust was only a tweaked version of Houdini pyro shelf tool.
This project took about two weeks start to finish.
